How to Hide Sales Commission Amounts from Technicians

This article explains how to hide the specific commission amount factored into a job's pricing from non-owner sales team members. This feature helps maintain privacy and ensures sales technicians focus on the final commission percentage, rather than the dollar amount's impact on job costing.

Controlling Commission Visibility

The visibility setting is managed at the company level, ensuring that owners/operators can still see the detailed financial breakdown.

  1. Access Configuration: Navigate to Settings --> Quoting within SetSale.

  2. Enable Hiding: Locate the setting to hide sales commission amounts for non-owner team members.

    • Result: Once enabled, the specific commission dollar amount will be hidden from anyone marked as "Sales". Owners and operators will retain full visibility of the commission amount that is factored into the quote pricing.

Tip: Commission Percentage for Job Costing

SetSale is not a payroll software, but it uses the commission percentage you input to correctly calculate the job's profitability (job costing).

  • If you need to account for both a commission (e.g., 8%) and a turnover fee (e.g., 2%), you should enter the total combined percentage (10%) as the commission rate in SetSale.

  • The visibility setting ensures this 10% amount is not visible to the sales team, only the final profit margin after all factors are accounted for.
