In SetSale, users have the option to restrict access to sensitive cost data, ensuring only the appropriate team members can view equipment-specific pricing. This feature is designed to protect your company's financial information while still allowing your sales team to create professional, profitable quotes.
Setting Up Price Protection
This setting is designed for owners and administrators to protect equipment cost information from non-owner team members.
How the Setting Works
Hides Equipment Cost: Once enabled, this feature hides the individual cost of equipment on the quote configuration page for any user designated as a Sales Technician (or non-owner role).
Total Price Remains Visible: Salespeople will still be able to see the total customer price at the bottom of the quote. This allows them to manage discounts and financing without seeing your company's underlying profit margins.
Owner Access: Users marked as Owners will retain the ability to view all equipment costing information in the system.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Navigate to Settings in the main menu.
Select the Quoting tab. [Insert Screenshot: Settings Quoting Tab]
Look for the Users section within the Quoting settings.
Check the option to "Hide equipment pricing from salespeople."
Save your changes.
User Experience for Sales Technicians
Once this setting is active, when a Sales Technician is building a quote:
On the quote configuration page, all fields that typically display the cost of individual equipment (e.g., furnace, AC unit) will be hidden or masked.
The salesperson can still select the Good/Better/Best tiers, apply discounts, and review the final price the customer will pay.
This separation ensures they focus on selling the value of the equipment rather than the cost.
