To ensure your sales technicians always present the right systems to homeowners, SetSale allows you to create System Templates. These templates act as the "brain" of your quoting process, automatically filtering your price book to match specific model lines to the four proposal tiers.
By setting up these rules, you control exactly which equipment appears for each tier, ensuring profitability and consistency across every quote—even for new technicians who may not be familiar with your entire equipment catalog.
Step 1: Access Equipment Settings
Navigate to the Settings menu.
Select Quoting.
Click on the System Templates tab to manage how equipment is selected during the quote creation process.
Step 2: Create or Edit a System Template
You can create a new rule set or edit existing defaults. System Templates are essentially "favorite buckets" based on specs rather than just individual model numbers.
Click Add Template, or choose a template that's already in the system.
Name your template based on the system configuration (e.g., "AC + Furnace Split" or "Heat Pump System").
You will see the four standard SetSale tiers: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Federal Minimum.
Step 3: Define Model Lines per Tier
SetSale automatically applies filters to your equipment list based on your uploaded price book.
Select a Tier: Choose a tier (e.g., Platinum) to view available equipment.
Filter by Specs: You can set specific requirements, such as a minimum SEER rating (e.g., "at least 18 SEER") or Energy Star certification.
Refine Matchups: Use the checkboxes next to equipment images to select or deselect specific model lines. As you deselect models you aren't interested in, the Matchup Table updates in real-time.
Note: This ensures that when a technician enters a specific tonnage or cabinet size in the field, only your preferred equipment is displayed.
Deselect Specific Matches: If a specific AHRI matchup is undesirable (for example, if a manufacturer's price is too high because you aren't a factory-authorized dealer), you can manually deselect it to prevent it from appearing in the field.
Step 4: Advanced Configuration (Mixing System Types)
You can customize the System Type for each individual tier within a single template.
Example: You can set the Platinum and Gold tiers to "Dual Fuel" while keeping Silver and Federal Minimum as standard "Heat Pump" units.
Simply change the system type dropdown for the specific tier and define the equipment you want to appear.
Step 5: Verify and Save
System Coverage Map: Scroll to the bottom to view the coverage map. This shows you exactly which options will be available to a technician based on different tonnage and configuration choices.
Note: A "red" or empty area in the map indicates a gap where no equipment matches your rules.
Save: Once you are satisfied with the equipment selection for all four tiers, click Save.
Pro-Tips for Success
Consistency is Key: Use templates to "disable" equipment you no longer stock or want to phase out, preventing technicians from quoting unavailable parts.
Test Your Rules: After saving, start a "Mock Quote" to see how the AI pulls your selected equipment into the four-tier presentation.
