Troubleshooting: Why Is Equipment Missing From My Proposal Tiers?

In this article, we'll walk through why equipment sometimes fails to populate on certain tiers (like Silver or Federal Minimum) when you are building a quote, and how you can easily fix it. By the end, you'll know exactly how to adjust your system specifications so your proposals generate perfectly every time.

Why This Happens

Sometimes, when generating a new quote from a template, you might notice that equipment isn't transferring to certain tiers. Even if your template has all four tiers filled out, SetSale might leave a tier blank.

This happens because of how SetSale filters your equipment catalog:

  • When you create a quote, SetSale looks at all possible equipment matchups defined in your System Templates.

  • The system then filters those available matchups to strictly match the specifications you entered for the job, including System Size, BTUs, Cabinet Size, and Airflow Configuration.

  • If your system filters are too narrow—for example, filtering for a specific BTU when your only available matchup has a lower BTU—the system filters out all possible matchups.

  • If there is no matchup that fits your exact filtered information, SetSale will not populate any equipment for that tier.

How to Fix Missing Equipment

If you find yourself with an empty tier, you can quickly resolve the issue using one of the two methods below:

Method 1: Edit the System Specs for the Tier

  1. Click on the specific tier that is missing equipment (for example, the Silver Tier).

  2. Click the Edit System button.

  3. Choose different specifications for that tier to widen the filter and allow the equipment to populate.

Method 2: Expand Your System Templates

  1. Navigate to your System Templates.

  2. Choose other model lines to include in your templates.

  3. Note: Adding more model lines gives the system a wider variety of matchups to choose from when filtering by specific sizes and configurations.
