In this article, we’ll walk through the Services section in SetSale. This feature replaces the old "Repairs" workflow, giving you a more professional way to account for labor, warranties, and job costs without cluttering your customer-facing quote.
What are Services?
Services are line items that allow you to account for specific project costs—like demo work, crane fees, or labor warranties—directly within a quote tier. Unlike "Upgrades," which are optional for the customer, Services are typically built into the base price of the tier (COGS) so you can maintain your margins while keeping the presentation clean.
How to Add Services to a Quote
When you are building a new quote or editing an existing one, you will find the Services section within each tier.
Open a Quote: Navigate to an existing quote or click New Quote.
Locate the Services Line: Below your equipment selection, you will see the new Services section.
Select a Pre-defined Service: Click the dropdown to choose from your saved list (e.g., "Labor Warranty" or "Permit").
Add a Custom Service: * If you have a unique cost for a specific job, type the name (e.g., "Custom Demo Work") and enter the cost.
Click Add to include it in that tier.
Review the Impact: The cost of these services is automatically added to the total project cost, ensuring your markups and margins stay accurate.
Managing Services in Your Settings
To save time in the field, you can pre-configure your most common services so they are ready to select with one click.
Go to Settings > Quoting
Locate the Services tab (formerly "Repairs").
Edit or Add New: Click New Service to create a standard item.
Add Rich Details: You can now add bullet points, brochures, or even videos to a service.
Note: While the price of the service is hidden from the customer, these "Rich" details will appear in the proposal to show the value of what is "Included."
Key Benefits
Clean Proposals: Customers see a single price for the tier rather than a long list of confusing fees.
Accurate Costing: Ensure that "hidden" costs like hauling away old equipment or specialized labor are always accounted for.
Professional Value: Use the "Rich" features (bullet points and brochures) to show customers exactly what they are getting for their money.
Pro Tip
Use Services for items you want the customer to know are included but not optional. For items you want the customer to choose to add on (like a programmable thermostat or an air purifier), continue using the Upgrades section.
