How to Use Rich Upgrades in SetSale
In this article, we’ll walk through the newly rebranded Upgrades feature (formerly known as Add-ons). You’ll learn how to transform basic line items into Rich Upgrades using photos, videos, and detailed descriptions to help homeowners understand the value of IAQ products, labor plans, and more.
What’s New: From Add-ons to Upgrades
We have rebranded "Add-ons" to Upgrades throughout the SetSale platform. This change is more than just a name; it includes the "Rich Upgrades" functionality, which allows you to add educational content to every optional item you offer.
By providing more information, you empower homeowners to make informed decisions, which helps increase your average deal size and overall profit.
Setting Up Rich Upgrades
To customize your upgrade options, follow these steps:
Navigate to Settings: Go to the Settings menu and select Quoting.
Select Upgrades: You will see the new Upgrades section (which replaced the old Add-on section).
Choose an Item: Select a specific upgrade, such as a 10-year labor plan, duct cleaning, or an air scrubber.
Select Presentation Style: You can now choose how to display information to the customer:
Bullet Points: Add up to five key details about the service or product.
Image / Brochure: Upload a photo or a PDF (like a product flyer) for the customer to review.
Video: Paste a YouTube or Vimeo URL, or upload your own video file. This can be played directly during the presentation.
Add Descriptions: Include a short summary to provide context for your videos or brochures.
Presenting Upgrades to Homeowners
The quoting process remains as fast as ever, but the presentation experience is now much more interactive:
Interactive Links: Every upgrade in the proposal the has been setup is now a clickable link. When a customer or technician clicks the item, it opens a dedicated presentation screen showing the price, monthly financing cost, and your custom media (video, bullets, or PDF).
"See Recommended Upgrades" Button: Homeowners can click this new button to swipe through "cards" of all available upgrades, making it easy to see everything you offer in a clean, modern format.
Toggle On/Off: Customers can still easily toggle these upgrades on or off. Adding an upgrade will automatically update the total price and monthly payment in real-time.
Best Practices for Rich Upgrades
Use Video for Complex Products: For items like Whole Home Air Purifiers or Variable Speed motors, a quick 60-second video can explain the benefits better than a technician sometimes can.
Standardize Your Process: Set up these rich details once in your settings so every technician on your team delivers a consistent, high-quality pitch every time.
