How do I remove sales tax from customer PDFs?
Hide the sales tax line on customer PDFs so they see one combined total instead of a line-by-line breakdown
By default, SetSale shows a sales tax breakdown on the service agreement PDF your customer receives after signing. If you'd rather your customers see a single total without the tax line, you can turn on one setting to hide it.
How sales tax shows by default
Out of the box, the signed service agreement includes a full price summary: starting price, discounts, sales tax, rebates, and final total. For most contractors, this is the right setup. It gives customers full transparency into what they're paying.
If you'd prefer to show one all-in price instead, follow the steps below.
Hide sales tax on the service agreement
- Click Settings in the left-hand menu.
- Select Checkout.
- Find the toggle labeled Hide sales tax on service agreement.
- Turn the toggle on.
Once enabled, customers see one total on their signed agreement instead of a line-by-line tax breakdown.
Turn the tax breakdown back on
To show sales tax again, go back to Settings > Checkout and turn the Hide sales tax on service agreement toggle off. Contracts signed from that point forward will show the full tax breakdown again.
FAQs
Will this change agreements my customers already signed? No. The setting only affects contracts signed after you enable it.
Does this change how much tax I charge? No. Your tax rate and tax options stay the same. This setting only controls whether the tax amount is shown as its own line on the customer's agreement.
Where do I set my tax rates? Tax rates are managed separately under Settings > Pricing > Tax Options.
