How to Add a Custom System Template

Sometimes AHRI numbers aren't available for certain equipment combinations. SetSale relies on AHRI numbers to build system templates, but there are situations where you need to quote combinations that fall outside of what AHRI covers — discontinued numbers, outdated equipment, or combinations you know work but don't have a valid AHRI match.

Custom system templates solve this by letting you build your own equipment combinations manually.

When to Use Custom System Templates

  • An AHRI number has been discontinued but you still need to quote that equipment

  • Equipment is outdated and no longer has a valid AHRI listing

  • You have a combination you know works but it doesn't have an AHRI number on file

How to Create a Custom System Template

  1. Navigate to Settings → Quoting → System Templates

  2. Open an individual system template

  3. Inside a tier, select the Custom System Template option

From here, you can choose your own primary piece of equipment (e.g., heat pump) and secondary piece of equipment (e.g., air handler). SetSale will still apply the same filtering rules it uses for AHRI-based templates. If you need additional equipment, you can add additional equipment types to the template.

Important: One Model Line Per Equipment Type

When building a custom equipment combination, you can only select one model line per equipment type. For example:

  • One condenser

  • One furnace

  • One thermostat

This is because SetSale still follows its standard filtering procedures — you can't have multiple condensers in a single system template. If you need multiple condenser options, create separate system templates for each.
